It’s always very difficult to think of anything to be gifted to men on their birthdays. It is the usual gifts that come to your mind like the colognes, branded shirt/pants, watches, and technology gifts.

I was thinking of gifting something special to my hubby on his birthday when an idea struck me. He loves paintings and handmade gifts a lot. So I decided to give him a surprise on his birthday by making something unique.

I purchased a cardboard sheet, thin wooden sheets, shells, black chart paper, gum for pasting. On the cardboard sheet first I pasted the black chart paper. On it I drew a drawing of a village woman sitting in a thatched house with an earthen pot. Then with the help of wood cutting tools I gave shapes to the wooden sheets and pasted it on the paper. The art after completion came out to be very lively and great. I would do the work when he was not at home. It needed great patience and time. It took me nearly fifteen days to complete it. I had booked a table for both us in a five star hotel on his birthday. I wrapped the gift in a red velvet cloth and along with it, a bouquet of red roses.

At the stroke of midnight on his birthday, I woke him up from a deep sleep and kissed him and wished him happy birthday and gifted him my present. He opened the gift and was awestruck by seeing my name beneath the work. Til today the art hangs in my bedroom and has occupied a special place in his heart.
