milestone birthday centerpiece idea

by MD(Mumbai, India)

I recently threw a surprise 50th birthday for my Mom and I wanted to share a few ideas and the centerpiece that we used for the birthday party.

We didn't really know where to start with planning this event so my sisters and I went to our local party store and found this centerpiece. We loved the idea that it could interchange for other events (such as a milestone anniversary celebration). We decided that the color scheme for this party was going to be based around these centerpieces.

We used the colors (orange, red, green and blue) for the decorations, tablecloths, balloons, plates, napkins and other party supplies. Everything coordinated really well and the room looked great.

We had a DJ play music exclusively from the 60s and 70s and used giveaways and props during some of the songs. We also decided to burn CDs to give away as the party favors with music from this era.

The food was fully catered from our favorite restaurant and we hired college students to serve buffet-style and to clean up.

The 50th birthday cake was extra special too since it featured all things associated with the 60s and we decided to try and make the cake appeal to all tastes by doing a half vanilla/half chocolate cake.

All in all this party was a huge success, Mom had a blast and I think people will be talking about it for years to come.
